Degree Entry Requirements

HDI CAMPUS welcomes students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds to pursue their higher education goals. Our degree programs are aligned with international standards, particularly the UNESCO International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED), ensuring broad global recognition and accessibility.
International Alignment
According to UNESCO's ISCED framework:
- Bachelor’s Degree corresponds to ISCED Level 6
- Master’s Degree corresponds to ISCED Level 7
- PhD (Doctoral Degree) corresponds to ISCED Level 8
All applicants are expected to have completed the relevant level of education prior to entry, or a recognized equivalent.
Bachelor’s Degree Entry Requirements
To be eligible for admission into a Bachelor's degree program at HDI CAMPUS, applicants must have completed upper secondary education equivalent to ISCED Level 3 (typically 12 years of schooling). The following qualifications are accepted:
- Sri Lankan G.C.E. A/L – Minimum 3 passes in any stream (Arts, Commerce,Science or Technology)
- Cambridge / Edexcel A/L – Minimum 3 subjects
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
- NVQ Level 5 or 6 – Technical/Vocational qualifications recognized by TVEC
- Higher National Diploma (HND) – In a relevant field, such as Business or IT
- Foundation or Access Program – Recognized post-O/L bridging qualification
- High School Diploma (USA) – With SAT/ACT scores
- GED (General Education Diploma) – U.S. equivalent to High School
- Mature Entry (Age 25+) – With relevant work experience and qualifications
- Foreign A/L Equivalents – e.g., Indian AISSCE, Malaysian STPM, etc.
- Oriental Preliminary Examination - By Oriental Studies Society, Sri Lanka
Language proficiency may be required (IELTS 5.5+, TOEFL,PCN or internal English test).
Master’s Degree Entry Requirements
Admission into a Master’s program requires completion of a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification at ISCED Level 6. Acceptable qualifications include:
- Recognized Bachelor's Degree – 3 to 4 years of undergraduate education in a relevant field
- Professional Qualifications Equivalent to a Degree – e.g., CIMA, ACCA, BIT, PCN etc.
- Postgraduate Diploma – Level 7 qualification (SLQF, RQF, etc.) relevant to the proposed field of study
- Mature Entry (Age 30+) – With substantial work experience and advanced diploma qualifications (subject to evaluation)
Language proficiency requirement: IELTS 6.0+, TOEFL, PCN or internal test (varies by program).
Applicants for research-based Master’s degrees may be asked to submit a research proposal.
PhD (Doctoral Degree) Entry Requirements
PhD programs at HDI CAMPUS require prior completion of a Master’s degree or equivalent at ISCED Level 7. Entry qualifications include:
- Recognized Master’s Degree – Typically a 1–2 year program in a relevant subject area
- MPhil or Equivalent – Research-based qualification suitable for direct PhD entry
- Professional Master’s Degree Holders – With strong research background or academic publications
- Exceptional Bachelor’s Degree Holders – In rare cases, candidates with significant research achievements may be admitted provisionally
Additional requirements:
- A detailed Research Proposal aligned with the applicant’s field of interest
- Language Proficiency: IELTS 6.5+, TOEFL, PCN or HDI CAMPUS internal test

- Candidates are encouraged to publish at least one research paper before submitting their final thesis
